Opportunities In Newfoundland



Newfoundland is facing the challenge of changing its resource based economy to meet the new economic realities of the global marketplace, including liberalization of trade, rapid technological and communications innovations, and increased competitiveness.


In June, 1992, the Newfoundland Government released "Challenge and Change: a Strategic Economic Plan for the Province Of Newfoundland and Labrador." This document outlined the focus and direction for the province's economic development activity.


A number of growth industries were identified to take advantage of Newfounland's unique strengths and resources, including:
