There are 177 licenced salmon rivers in Newfoundland and Labrador. All water is public and anyone with a licence is free to fish any stretch of river ( non-residents must be accompanied by a registered guide). Perhaps it's due to the fact that most of the rivers on the island part of the province are grilse rivers, with few large salmon, that many salmon anglers overlook our area. This coupled with our low population density and geographic isolation tend to make Newfoundland a salmon anglers' paradise. Imagine vast stretches of water running through pristine wilderness and no lining up to fish a pool. With a few notable exceptions (the Salmonier River on the Avalon Peninsula being one and the July 1st weekend at Big Falls ,on the Humber River, being another) it's almost always possible to fish over good water in peaceful uncrowded conditions.

In this homepage I will endeaver to pass along whatever bits of information I have collected that other anglers (both resident and non-resident) may find helpful and informative.Constructive comments and information from visitors are welcome while flames will be ignored.
