John Wiltshire - age 51 - (Widower) - Fisherman - Methodist - Heart's Delight

Witnesses : J. Avery , Sarah Wiltshire

2. Also previously per Vince J. Wiltshire: "The John Wiltshire I've traced at Heart's Delight was married on Jan 3 1892 to Mahalah Jerrett. They were married at Heart's Delight, he was 51 & from HD, she was 41 & from Shoal Hr. Witnesses were Herbert E. Wiltshire, Sarah Wiltshire & Flora. Now because of their ages, I could surmise that they may have been married before. Mahalah at that age would have been born in 1851..."

1. Elias John Bishop and his son Elias Bishop, were out fishing when a very bad storm came up. Fearing for his son's life, the senior Elias, tied him to their boat. And it was lucky that he did, the younger Elias was found alive several days later when the boat washed ashore in Islington/Heart's Delight. The elder Elias John Bishop drowned. The year was 1909.

2. From Cavendish - Tragic Events, created by students of St. George's High School we see: "1909 - Elias Bishop - Drowned while crossing the bay. "

NOTES:

1. Pat Stewart lists a sibling named Sandy. She cites Mr. Chislett research as the source. No other information is given about Sandy. I believe Sandy and Alexander are the same child, as Sandy is a common nickname for Alexander.

Elizabeth HARNUM 1, 2 married 3 Alexander JACKSON on May 06 1888 in Shoal Harbour (Cavendish), Trinity Bay, Newfoundland.

They had the following children:

  F i Eunice JACKSON
  M ii Charles JACKSON

CHRISTENING:

1. Per the NL GenWeb's Green's Harbour Parish Baptisms for 1891-1899:

"SAMUEL JACKSON - son of - ALEXANDER & ELIZABETH JACKSON - of - SHOAL HR., BORN JAN.14,1894. BAPTIZED MARCH 19,1894."

EMMIGRATION:

1. Joyce (Bishop) Dobbie's notes indicate that a Samuel and Eleazer (1878), both brothers, went to the USA. The note also include Parents? with the entry. Although her notes are placed next to this Samuel's Uncle Samuel (son of Henry and Caroline), I believe she may have meant to refer to Samuel and Eleazer (sons of Alexander and Elizabeth, aka grandsons of Henry and Caroline). However, since she also indicates this Samuel died at age 13, it seems perhaps that his date of death is mixed up with that of his Uncle. Or perhaps Eleazer is Henry's son rather than Alexanders. Additional information is needed to prove this connection. Pat Stewart's notes do not have any conclusive information.
  M v Eleazer JACKSON
M vi Selby Eugene JACKSON 1, 2, 3 was born 4, 5, 6 on Mar 06 1898 in Shoal Harbour (Cavendish), Trinity Bay, Newfoundland and was christened 7 on Mar 27 1898 in Green's Harbour, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland. 1. The 1921 Census of Cavendish includes the following entry:

Jackson; Hannah; Cavendish; F; Head; Widow; 1854; June; 67; Hearts Delight

NOTES:

1. Per Pat Stewart: "After George Critch passed away in 1898 or earlier, Hannah married James Phillip Jackson on January 18, 1898."

2. Per Pat Stewart: "She is shown as Hannah Jackson, a widow on the 1921 Cavendish census. Therefore James Philip Jackson died before 1921.
