CENSUS:

REMEMBRANCE:

As children, my cousins and I would often be found on "Uncle Jack's field", this is a piece of land above "The Track" (the old railway line) where he kept his cattle and horses. When Uncle Jack didn't have one of his bulls on the field, we would be there. Once we didn't notice the Bull until we tried to leave. That was scary! In Summer, you would find us playing tag, picking wildflowers, and feeding hay to the horses and cows. In Winter, it was a favorite spot for sledding and skiing or going for sleigh rides.

Uncle Jack's farm, down on "The Pinch", was also a great spot for fun. The Pinch Road led all the way to "Round Pond", our swimming hole in Summer and skating rink in Winter. It was a good spot for fishing year round. Going down towards the pond, Jack's farm is on the left. Wild rose bushes and the scattered berry bush can be found all along the fence surrounding his farm. The right side of the Pinch Road is also a good spot for berry pickers, with blueberries, raspberries, partridge berries, and the little white 'minty' berries that look like 'Tic Tacs'. I don't know what they are actually called. Uncle Jack's farm has since been converted into a campground, where today, "townies" park their camper trailers when they come visiting for the summer.

TRAGEDY:

1. In 1972, Jack and Lizzie Bishop's shop and house destroyed by a fire.
