"NEWHOOK, Hayward S. - Passed peacefully away after a courageous battle with cancer at the Carbonear General Hospital on Sunday, November 8, 1998 Hayward Newhook of New Harbour, age 83 years. Leaving to mourn beloved wife of 61 years, Cecelia; two sons: Jack (Evelyn), Dunville, Hayward Jr. (Kay), Dunville; six daughters: Shirley Power (Mart), Jerseyside, Placentia, Genevieve Davis (Jerry), New Harbour, Dot Power, Dunville, Lorraine Keller (Ed), Toronto, Ontario, Fern Beck (Wallace), Goose Bay, Sherry Petipas (Larry), Fort MacMurray; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one sister Marion Coombs (Don), New Harbour; step-brother Gerald Newhook, New Harbour; special friend Mary Bonnell, Dunville; brothers-in-law: Sam Thorne (Thelma), New Harbour, Cecil Thorne (Emily), South Dildo; sister-in-law Lena Thorne, Dildo; also lovingly remembered by many friends. Resting at Warren`s Funeral Home, Dildo with visiting hours Tuesday 2-4 p.m. and 7-10 p.m., Wednesday 10 a.m. to time of funeral. Funeral service will be held from St. John`s United Church, New Harbour on Wednesday, November 11th at 2 p.m. Interment to follow United Church Cemetery. No flowers by request.
