In the name of God, Amen. I Samuel Pretty of the Parish of Chard in the County of Pomerock and now residing in Dildo Cove in Trinity Bay Island of Newfoundland, being in a weak state of health but of sane mind being mindful of this uncertain state do make this my last will and testament,
First I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God as into the hands of a faithful Creator and most merciful Saviour in the hope that he will receive it for the sake and throug the merits of Jesus Christ and I desire to be decently buried according to the rites and ceremonies of the Established Church.
Item, I give and bequeath to my sons Robert and James Pretty fifty pounds each now in the hands of David Durell Esquire of Poole in the County of Dorset with the interest due on the same together with all interest and money which may be in his keeping at the time of my decease.
Item, I give and bequeath to my sons Robert and James Pretty my stages flakes, boats, nets & other implements used in the Fishery share and share alike save and except a part of the fishing room, gardens &c. with a spot to build a house which I give and bequeath to my grandson George Pretty.
Item, I give and bequeath to my grand son George Pretty one of my heifers.
Item, I give and bequeath to my sons and daughters Joseph Pretty, Robert Pretty, James Pretty, Mary Smith, Catherine Elsworth and Martha George, the whole of what money I may have at the time of my decease in the Savings Bank with the interest due on the same also I give and bequeath to my grandson George Pretty an equal share of said money in the Savings Bank with my sons and daughters.
Item, I give and bequeath to my sons Robert and James Pretty the whole of my cattle with the exception of the Heifer before bequeathed to my grandson George Pretty.
Lastly I do appoint my two sons in law Thomas George and Charles Elsworth my executors to this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made.

Crawford of New Harbour schoolmaster maketh oath and saith that he this deponent was present and actually saw Samuel Pritty put his mark to and seal and declare the within paper writing as and for his last will and testament on the day of the date thereof at which time the said will was read over to the said Samuel Pritty in the presence of this deponent and of Charles Newhook and Jonas Newhook who severally subscribed their names thereto as witnesses to the due execution thereof.
