Events past, present and future...
This page is a collection of events, images and memories of our past performances since Acushla began in early 1996. We are an "open" band, in that our members may come and go from time to time, but we also have long-time members that form the real core of the band. By having a network of musicians of varying calibre to play with us from time to time, we are able to increase our repertoire as well as increase the diversity of sound and instruments that we use on stage.
Our mixed heritage and combined cultural background within the band allow us to explore a wide range of musical styles, both traditional and contemporary. We can boast within our band a mixture of Welsh, French, Irish, English and Scottish heritage... a fairly common lineage to Newfoundland as a whole.
We have had the opportunity to play in many locations in Newfoundland, mainly in St.John's, but also in Trinity, Carbonear, Bay Bulls, Petty Harbour, Corner Brook... We play both English and French songs, although instrumental music knows no language barriers as does lyrical music.
