was formed in Spring, 1996, by some friends and musicians wanting to share a common bond. It is a traditional-Celtic-folk-alternative-world beat band, which draws its energy and influences from a variety of Newfoundland/European musicians and bands. Each musician shares a multitude of influences and an common vision that help shape our sound. A variety of artists and musicians form the current Acushla, with temporary and guest musicians joining in on the fun from time to time. We have played extensively throughout our province and especially it's capital city, St. John's; however we are anxious to head out beyond our shores and share our music in person with CFA's... a Newfoundlander's affectionate term for a "Come from away"... that is, a person who is not from Newfoundland...
Newfoundland, the sea, fishing, and making the best of what you have are some of the themes we sing and play about. Our desire to explore new and different styles of music as well as the sounds of the world keeps us going, motivating us to continue creating. We hope to record a CD soon to share our music with everyone...Stay tuned... The new Millenium has arrived!
