WANTED:

People who like to perform for other and have fun while doing it!

All are welcome to the auditions for the 16th Annual Shakespeare By The Sea Festival - we are holding auditions for FEMALES on May 3, and MALES on May 4 & 5 at the St. John's Arts and Culture Centre.

Just email us at sbts@nfld.com to request an audition time.

No preparation is necessary, as we will have readings available from the plays, but prepared readings of Shakespeare are always welcome also.

We will be casting roles for the following productions:

Antony and Cleopatra – by William Shakespeare
Director: Brad Hodder
Performances: 6pm, Sundays and Mondays July 6-August 11
Venue: Harbourside Park, Water Street
Roles: 19+ available (4 Female /15-20 Male, plus assorted supporting)

The Merry Wives of Windsor – by William Shakespeare
Director: Danielle Irvine
Performances: 6pm, Fridays and Saturdays  July 11-August 16
Venue: St. John’s Cabot 500 Theatre in Bowring Park
Roles: 20 available (4 Male-Cast Female Characters / 16 Male)
THIS WILL BE AN ALL MALE CAST PRODUCTION

Much Ado About Nothing – by William Shakespeare
Director: Jennifer Deon
Performances: 6pm Wednesdays and Thursdays  July 16-August 14
Venue: St. John’s Cabot 500 Theatre in Bowring Park
Roles: 20 available (4 Female / 16 Female-Cast Male Characters)
THIS WILL BE AN ALL FEMALE CAST PRODUCTION

The Cask of Amontillado – by Edgar Allen Poe
Director: Dave Walsh
Performances: 8:30pm, Sundays and Mondays July 6-August 18
Venue: Newman Wine Vaults on Water Street
Roles: 2 male available

You will have an opportunity at the audition to indicate your preference (if any) if you wish to be considered for a particular play or role, or if there is any other capacity in which you would be interested in being involved with the Festival.

Rehearsals will be held on evenings and weekends around the work schedules of the participants, which we will expect everyone to give us a fair idea of at the auditions.  This is a volunteer commitment.  

Please note, the Shakespeare By The Sea Festival is a community theatre company
that does not currently cast outside the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
