Newfoundland is one-half of the Eastern most province of Canada, Labrador is the other. As the name suggests, it is two geographically separate entities. The Island of Newfoundland lies in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and is the most easterly land mass in North America. Labrador is northwest of Newfoundland on the Canadian mainland. The two are separated by the Strait of BelleIsle, which is 16 km wide at its narrowest point. For more information to help plan your visit to Newfoundland, click here. |
