Hinduism

I still have not studied the lives of many Hindu avatars, or what is known of them, and stories of/by them, or biographies of those considered by some to have been avatars (e.g., Ramakrishna). However I suspect that at least some will show the 5.5 lunar month separation between pre-full-moon demonic test and pre-new-moon inspired high, and the sun stare, thorn hill climb and blue rose vision, and clear sky lightning inpsiration, and mystic spark experiences. I have glanced at a little stuff so far on Krishna, though.

Krishna is described as being fragrant and blue, this I relate to my blue rose vision. In any ancient or modern Indian language or Romany, does the word for rose sound like that for lotus. This would link paths for which the blue rose is important with those for which the blue lotus is.

Krishna is also described as being a butter thief; this I relate to the waning away of the butter crescent before new moon, or the butter under the fingernails (waning crescent moon). This is related to druid (celtic) traditions of bread dough under the fingernails.

Krishna is described as a divine child, or child prodigy. However I believe that he and Nanak (also described as a divine child) did not get their divine calls until about age 27, like me, and tales of them as children may be related to the child-man sense of punning/play which accompanies some of the pre-new-moon mystic highs but which often leads to breakthroughs. However, like me they probably excelled at learning a variety of subjects well before their mystic calls.

Krishna battles many demons sent at him by his uncle, one is a poisoned-nippled demon. I believe this is a waxing gibbous moon psychic test period similar to that of the Buddha against the bodhi tree prior to his release at full moon, or to Jesus' psychic death before and resurrection at full moon. However I have yet (haven't looked much yet) to find evidence of a mystic waning crescent high 5.5 lunar months later.

Rama's 14-year exile in the forest may have been 14 years of low years (I am now, July 6, 2013, approaching 17.5 years). His victory over the demon king may have been his coming out of the low years.

The feet of Kali dancing upon Shiva at the cremation grounds are like the two crescent moons, that before and after new moon, with the one before the one of creation and the one after that of destruction. The cremation ground low or ashes out of which new fire or creativity rises is that which occurs once every eleven years, the low of the solar sunspot cycle during which the mystic is foresaken/in the wilderness/paranoid without some lithium and regular yoga and good diet.

The five arrows of the love god Kama I relate to the five full moons followed by wane after the release from the demonic attack at full moon. On the wane of the fifth full moon after the release, during solar sunspot cycle high/medium years there is an inspired playful high. This is again related to celtic traditions (five cauldrons) and North American native tradition (five bows of the Salmon, analogous to the five arrows of Kama.).

Again related to the native tradition and to other pagan religions is the heavy importance of the bull in Hinduism. I believe the horns of the bull represent the waning crescent moon and waxing crescent moon, with the waning one associated with creation and the waxing one with destruction. The clear sky lightning of inspiration would occur during the waning horn. This is discussed in more detail in my section on the bull/lightning paths. Of course, especially for most people who do not have the avatar cycles, the bull has other symbolism as well, such as fertility, animalism and strength.

Some comments on the mala rosary: 1.5 times the 108 rosary beads is about the time period from the onset of a pre-full-moon psychic test (such as that of the Buddha against the tree, or Jesus) with release/resurrection at full moon, to the onset of a pre-new-moon waning sickle mystic high. There are 165 beads in the long Catholic rosary, 5 (number of the rose, sacred number of Kali) times that in the 33-bead Islamic one. This time period (162 days) is six rotations of the sun, or 5.5 lunar months. My personal onset to onset measurements have ranged from 160 to 164 days.

My early exposure to Hinduism was minimal, though some is mentioned in Roger Zelazny' SF novel Lord of Light which I first read in my late teens (but Ursula K. Leguin is my favourite writer, e.g., Tehanu).

More will be added to this section from library and web research next and I welcome contributions from you which I would reference to you and your sources.

Hindu rose legends

In Legends of the Rose it says "Ancient Hindu writings tell the story of the God Vishnu, protector of the world, and Brahma, creator of the world, arguing about which flower was the most beautiful. Vishnu bet his position as chief God on the rose's superiority while Brahma, who had never seen a rose sided with the lotus. When Brahma saw the rose he immediately agreed that the rose was supreme. And Vishnu's loyalty was well rewarded: from 108 large and 1,008 small rose petals the Goddess Lakshmi was created to be his wife."

That seems somewhat related to the creation of Blodeuwedd by Math and Gwydion out of flowers to be Llew's wife in Welsh mythology. I also relate it somewhat to my blue rose vision which I relate not only to Gaia (the blue planet Earth) but also somewhat to the woman I am most attracted to, Sarah McLachlan. Also she has been my main inspirer as I suspect Radha was for Krishna, so I consider her the devi type to me as avatar type.
